Most of the super high-rise buildings are built in soft soil areas along the rivers and coastal areas in China. Taking the 597m-high Tianjin Goldin 117 Tower as an example, the calculation and analysis of the foundation settlement and the internal force of the basement plate of the super high-rise building was systematically expounded. In view of strict requirement for bearing capacity and settlement of the foundation, the results calculated using the total sum method on the basis of currently used specification, and alternatively two newly developed methods, were compared and analyzed. The new methods are able to consider the sheltering-group reinforcement effect of pile group and to analyze the interaction behavior between super-structure and foundation. Based on the calculation results, the basement plate is designed to be 6.5 m thick and a total of 941 bore piles which are 1000mm diameter and 102 m depth. The maximum calculated settlement of the foundation and bending moment of the basement plate are 11-15cm and 80-130MN·m/m, respectively. The maximum calculated bending moment of the basement plate is mainly locating in the core tube and giant columns area. The last monitoring results show that the foundation has settled 10.1 cm as it was capped for 4.5 years. According to the field monitoring, the final settlement is estimated to be 10.8 cm which agrees fairly well with the calculated result. The practical analysis method provides a useful reference for design and analysis of deep foundation for super high-rise buildings in soft soil area.
